Homemade Lasagne

I love making this dish when I want a filling meal, it’s not a quick mid-week meal when you are in a rush but it is great if you have family or friends over and want to serve them up a great plate. Homemade garlic bread is easy to make and can be served in less than 10 minutes and generally is better than any frozen packet from the supermarket.

Cooking time: 1hour 15mins
Ingredients:
·         Beef mince
·         Chopped tomatoes
·         Black pepper
·         Dark soy a sauce
·         Olive oil
·         Thyme
·         Red wine
·         Lasagne sheets
·         Flour
·         Cheese
·         milk
·         Ciabatta bread
·         Butter
·         Garlic gloves
·         Parsley
·         Side salad (optional)

Cooking:
Lasagne
  1. Start by washing your beef mince with some cold water, drain this once finished.
  2. Heat your pot with some olive oil, once heated add your beef mince to the pot and allow this to fry for 5 minutes.
  3. After 5 minutes sprinkle with black pepper, dark soy a sauce and a little bit of thyme, stir well and fry your beef mince for a further 10 minutes.
  4. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes to your pot and 3-4 capfuls of red wine. Allow this to cook for 12-20 minutes remembering to stir in between.
  5. For the white sauce in a pot you will need to heat; 1-2 cups of flour, milk, 1 spoon of butter and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Keep stirring your white sauce till it is a smooth mixture. (Add more milk or water to if the mixture is becoming lumpy)
  7. Your mince should be finished by now so you will need to grab a baking dish and start to create your lasagne.
  8. Start by spreading your mincemeat over the bottom of the baking dish, layer with your white cheese sauce then place your lasagne sheets and repeat till your reach the top where you can sprinkle it with cheese.
  9. Place this in the oven to cook at 200c for 30-40 minutes until it is golden brown on top.

Ciabatta bread
  1. Crush some garlic gloves and place this into a pot with olive oil and butter.
  2. Allow this to sit on the stove on a medium heat for about 10 minutes.
  3. Slice your ciabatta bread and place on to your baking tray.
  4. Drizzle the garlic olive oil mixture over your ciabatta bread slices and top with parsley.
  5. Cook this at 200c for 4-8 minutes till it is a nice golden colour.
  6. Optional (squeeze half a lemon over your ciabatta bread before placing it in the oven for a fresher taste)
  7. Optional add some side salad to your dish.
